Hello, I’m Jen. I’m the owner and founder of Mama Method, and Mama to 2 darlings, Emmie and Cruz. I’m so glad you’re here.

Movement has been in my bones, my truest passion, since I could walk. My first love was and still is Ballet. I’m a Registered Teacher with the renowned Royal Academy of Dance and taught at various ballet schools throughout the lower mainland. I quickly fell in love with Pilates when I completed my first mat certification with Marta Hernandez of the PhysicalMind Institute in 2009, and shortly after added other certifications to the mix including Barre and Lagree. I was fortunate to travel to San Francisco to guest teach as well as study the MELT Method in New York City with founder Sue Hitzmann.

The concept of Mama Method was initially born out of necessity when my first child arrived in 2014. Society favours speed and quickly ‘bouncing back’ after birth, but my experience was anything but. The physical demands of Motherhood were harder than I expected, and it rocked my world. Shouldn’t we be better prepared for this? There were also no safe or effective movement offerings tailored to healing postpartum. I felt called to help change this, but didn’t know at the time how to do it.

Fast forward a few years later to the birth of my second child in 2017. I was a mess physically, hormonally and emotionally. Instead of feeling energized and strong from my regular workouts, I was left feeling depleted and chronically sore and tight, and it was making my lingering post partum issues worse. I needed something more than just ‘exercise’ - I needed a holistic and integrative approach to healing. I dove deep into more complex and clinical trainings specific to the perinatal period, in addition to completing my clinical pilates certification in 2019. Simple things, like learning how to get my diaphragm working efficiently again, had such a positive cascading effect on the rest of my body, that I knew I had found what was missing.

The past 13 years of experience, trainings and growth lead me to create something that I feel is so unique, safe and empowering for ALL women. I provide you with the tools to lay the ground work, then we build to get your body performing the way you need. This is all about the long game - setting yourself up for success so you can move through life with freedom and joy. It’s my hope to make that journey a little more smooth for you.
