Our philosophy is simple: to support, uplift and empower women during pregnancy, postpartum and motherhood. We do this through education, healing movement, sweat and community.

We are thrilled to be trusted and recommended by orthopaedic and pelvic floor physiotherapists, OBGYNs, midwives and other women’s health practitioners throughout the lower mainland and Canada.

MEET JEN,

FOUNDER OF MAMA METHOD.

I’m Jen - a Prenatal and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist and Clinical Pilates Educator.

I’m a Mama of 2, and I’ve been in your shoes. Motherhood is the hardest job in the world, and my goal is to help make it that much easier - and enjoyable! - for you.

PREGNANCY

Staying active during pregnancy with smart and safe exercise, such as Pilates, has so many benefits for the Mother and baby, and can greatly help with your postpartum recovery. I can help you plan for a powerful pregnancy to prevent or minimize the common aches, pains and pregnancy-related symptoms such as stress incontience, SI joint pain and Pubic Symphysis Dysfunction. You’ll learn how to connect with your pelvic floor, core and breathing system in a whole new way, which can help manage stress and allow for a smoother birth and delivery.

EARLY POSTPARTUM (0-6months)

Carrying your baby for 9 months and then going through birth can feel like your body’s been through a marathon - and it has! The next few years are just as important as you’re not only caring for your little one 24 hrs a day, but also yourself. You’re going to need strength, and a lot of it.

Having a rock solid game plan on how to recover from birth and safely regain your body and core strength and pelvic floor health is key in not only helping you return to the activities you love most, but allowing you to withstand the demands of early Motherhood. Most importantly, learning to appreciate and respect all that your body has been through, along with cultivating a positive body image, is a humbling and important step in your journey towards healing.

POSTPARTUM (6 months +)

If your baby is now crawling or it’s been years since your last child was born, and you’re still struggling, you’re not alone. Back pain, neck tension, SI joint pain, diastasis recti, prolapse and urinary or fecal incontinence are some issues that can arise during pregnancy and postpartum and linger for years if not addressed. It’s time for a fresh start with a fresh approach. We’ll take a close look at your body, from your posture to the way you move and come up with program specific to your short term needs and long term goals.

WOMEN’S HEALTH + FITNESS

Do you work with people who aren’t pregnant or postpartum?”

This is a question I always get asked, and the answer is YES!

Our women’s health and fitness programs are designed with an athletic focus in mind, where you reap the benefits of an intense fitness class without the impact on your joints or spiking cortisol levels. They are perfect for those wanting to:

  • gain strength and muscle mass

  • improve posture, flexibility and coordination

  • rehab or speed up the recovery time of an existing injury

  • cross train or enhance other exercise programs

  • maintain and build bone density as we age

  • support healthy metabolism and body composition through perimenopause and menopause

  • reduce stress and improve quality of life

The only caveat - reformer pilates is highly addictive! You’re going to absolutely love the way your body looks and feels. It’s an experience like no other.

“I feel like a whole new person. I have learned so much about my body after three babies, and ways in which I can slowly get back to myself. Jen is compassionate, incredibly knowledgable, and professional. Highly recommend!” - Dr. Akehurst, Vancouver

The Postpartum Reset by MAMA METHOD

“For about a year and a half since I had my second, my oldest daughter would always ask if I would play tag with her at the park. I would, but soon after I would have to tell her I couldn’t run anymore because I would either feel like I was going to or I would pee my pants. After two weeks of doing the videos I was at the park on the weekend with my family. My daughter asked if I would play tag and this time I didn’t have to stop. This time we played tag until her legs were too sore.”
